Ependymoma diagnosis and treatment progress

چکیده
Ependymoma originated from the ventricular surface of ependymal epithelium cells are neuroepithelial tumors, 90% in the brain, and most of them are located in the posterior fossa, especially in the bottom wall of the fourth ventricle, 10% in spinal cord. Slightly more men than women, the annual incidence rate of about 2/100 million. Because the disease is relatively rare, almost no randomized controlled clinical study, coupled with lesions involving intracranial and spinal cord, and general guidance and principle of treatment often fails to distinguish between, just general statements, failed to form a diagnosis and treatment principles of a system. This paper summarized the clinical features, diagnosis, classification, treatment methods are reviewed, a guide to clinical.

Rapidly Enlarging Pediatric Cortical Ependymoma
We report a 10-year-old boy with supratentorial cortical ependymoma that rapidly grew in the course of 3 years. He suffered generalized seizures when he was 5 years old; MRI showed a small cortical lesion in the right postcentral gyrus. MRI performed 2 years later revealed no changes. For the next 3 years he was free of seizures. However, at the age of 10 he again suffered generalized seizures ...
متن کاملClear Cell Ependymoma of Spinal Cord: A Case Report
Clear cell variant of ependymoma is almost exclusively located in the supratentorial region. Only few cases of this tumor that located in the spinal cord have been reported. Here we report one case of intramedullary clear cell ependymoma of the lumbar spinal cord. In microscopic examination, the tumor cells were round to oval with moderate amounts of clear cytoplasm and centrally located lar...
متن کاملIntradural Extramedullary Spinal Ependymoma: A Case Report of Malignant Transformation Occurring
Intradural extramedullary spinal ependymomas are extremely rare. Herein, we describe a lesion-type spinal ependymoma that followed a malignant course, and discuss its clinical presentation, etiopathogenesis, and treatment. We present a patient who was diagnosed with an intradural extramedullary spinal tumor at T4-T6. The patient underwent gross total resection of the tumor without damage to the...
متن کاملMalignant Transformation of Grade II Ependymoma in a 2-Year-Old Child: Case Report
Ependymomas are central nervous system neoplasms that account for a third of all posterior fossa tumors in children. The most common location for infratentorial ependymoma is within the fourth ventricle. We present a case report of malignant transformation of an infratentorial grade II ependymoma in a 2-year-old child who presented with vomiting and visual disturbance. An infratentorial brain t...

Objective: We present a rare case of an intramedullary ependymoma WHO grade 2 presenting with holocord syringomyelia and discuss special features of adequate diagnosis and treatment options. Case presentation: A 79 years old male patient presented with progressive gait ataxia and back pain. Previous operation of lumbar disc herniation and stenosis of the cervical spine did not improve the sympt...
